“A true Nashville outlaw, Phil Hummer, was actually born in New York City and grew up in Michigan. During that time he learned to play and sing the songs of Bill Monroe, Johnny Cash, and other country or bluegrass musicians. At the age of fifteen, he returned to New York City and soon found himself in the middle of the 1980s punk scene. Over the years, Phil has masterfully blended these country influences with heavier rock and punk musics [sic], creating a hard-edged, rural sound that has been referred to as Michigan hillbilly, country-rockabilly, and hard country. Now residing in Nashville, Phil Hummer and The White Falcons deliver a beautifully rough-and-tumble, aggressive southern brand of music, and one that’s entirely their own.” -Timon Kaple
